Orchestra & Strings

Students participate in FREE group lessons during music class or recess once a week for thirty minutes.

At 4th and 5th grade students have an additional string class to play as one large string orchestra. This class meets once a week for thirty minutes during recess.

4th and 5th graders can also audition to participate in Honors Orchestra which brings together ALL the WPS elementary school string students to build a string community. This ensemble meets once a week for an hour rehearsal at Kennedy Middle school.

At the 3rd grade level, students may choose between playing violin, viola, or cello in 4th grade students may opt to contine on the double bass.

Weekly lessons consist of small class sizes (5-8 students) to provide more individualzed attention, increase participation, build a nurturing music community.
