Classroom Expectations

Thank you in advance for your flexibility!

First and foremost, I thank you for your patients as our classroom expectations change and evolve this year. Our online expectations will vary from our in-person expectations as will our expectations during hybrid learning. Thank you for your patience and understanding as these norms shift throughout the year.

Mrs. Madsen's Personal Expectations

The following norms represent my personal expectations for a successful classroom community.

I am only one member of this community though, thus it is extremely likely that these expectations will shift and change during the first few weeks of the school year as we determine our expectations as a classroom community. This will be a goal of at least the first 3 days of virtual learning.

Be Responsible

To be responsible means always doing your part to fulfill your role in our class community

During remote learning this looks like:

  • completing work independently

  • being on time

  • Finding a workspace that allows your to focus.

In-person this also looks like:

  • keeping your learning area clean

  • being organized

Be Respectful

To be respectful we must treat others like we would want to be treated at all times.

During remote learning this looks like:

  • active listening

  • eyes on the speaker

  • positive comments

In-person this also looks like:

  • wearing your mask

  • taking turns

Be Kind

To be kind we must always choose to act and speak from our hearts and not from hate.

During remote learning this looks like:

  • respecting others right to different opinions

  • being patient when things don't go as planned

In-person this also looks like:

  • helping out when you can

  • Choosing your words carefully

Be Safe

To be safe means protecting your body and mind from avoidable pain

During remote learning this looks like:

  • careful use of all technology and tools.

  • calm bodies

In-person this also looks like:

  • wearing your mask

  • washing your hands regularly

  • being aware of your surroundings.

Google Meets Expectations

These expectations represent academic expectations during live teaching sessions via Google Meets.

These expectations are district wide norms. Please keep in mind these expectations are the same for all Waltham students.

... and the homework question?

For the time being everything we do in school is work to be done at home. Eek... everything is homework!

That being said, I do not yet have a strong sense of what work will (if any) be done outside of our 5.5 hour school block. Thank you for your patience while we navigate these new systems.
