Because we are a public school in the state of Georgia we have a responsibility to follow the state curriculum in all the academic areas. We take pride in not only meeting state standards but going above them using the forest as our guide.
While we transition from both indoor classrooms and outdoor classrooms the material flows fluidly between the two spaces. Anything that is taught within the confinement of four walls is deepened outside. The topics we learn from inside move from recessive to active learning when reinforcing them in the forest. We also expand on items we learn in the forest and deepen that learning in the classroom.
We encounter so much more than the typical classroom provides. We have the opportunity to learn about insects, animals, habitats, life cycles, identification of plant life, decomposers, adaptations, and so many other amazing things. We passionately develop a love of learning in students and the excitement is palpable with each new discovery.
