Walkden High Rewards Scheme

Rewards and celebrating success is important part of life within Walkden High School, pupils’s success both within and outside the class room is rewarded. Rewarding pupils makes them feel valued, builds confidence and motivates them to achieve.

In addition, rewarding good behaviour enables students to realise that desirable behaviour, self-discipline and responsibility to self and others is highly valued in our community.

We understand the importance of recognising, praising and rewarding our pupils in a way that is meaningful to them. We seek to use methods that pupils are motivated by and that inspire the pupils to achieve well. We will ensure that, regardless of ability and age all pupils across the school will be able to benefit from the rewards process.

Pupil achievements are rewarded as achievement points which pupils collect over the year, these are recorded on a running total and each term pupils are awarded rewards certificates as a voucher for to claim prizes for their achievements.

Pupils receive their achievement points rewards certificates that enable to log on to the Pupil Personal Development Portal to claim their prizes.

Pupils can achieve rewards for the following: attendance, punctuality, outstanding effort in lesson or in homework, outstanding attainment in lesson and in homework, representing the school in sports of other activity, school leadership, exceptional performance outside of the school, helping/supporting school events, tutor merit for equipment, representing their house and winning a house competition.

Completing Stars & Stripes Challenge earns pupils 50 achievement points and will instantly level you up on completion.

Prizes available to pupil include stationary and other items that support their learning at school. The prizes are based on a tier system from Level 1 to Level 7 and each level sees the pupils receive a prize reflective of the points gained.

All prize certificates containing vouchers have an expiration date to be claimed

In addition to these awards, there is an annual ‘Whole School Achievement Recognition’ ceremony that celebrates the achievements of those whose effort or attainment has been exemplary throughout the year. This is a prestigious event held at the school; an inspirational evening in which Walkden High School and our parents recognise the accomplishments of our highly talented students.
