LifeLinks is a free service that supports children and adults (aged 0β65) with disabilities in Canterbury, South Canterbury, and the West Coast. They work with families to create personalised plans and connect them with the right support services.
If your child has a disability, such as autism, cerebral palsy, or a developmental delay, LifeLinks can assist by:Β
Creating a personalised plan: They collaborate with you to understand your child's needs and goals.Β
Coordinating support services: They help access services like therapy, respite care, and equipment.Β
Providing ongoing support: They offer guidance as your child's needs evolve.Β
Their goal is to ensure your child has the necessary support to thrive at home, in school, and within the community.
β Who Is Eligible?
Your child may be eligible for LifeLinks services if they:
Are under 65 years old
Have a disability expected to last at least 6 months
Require ongoing support to function independently
Are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
LifeLinks is funded by the Ministry of Disabled People (Whaikaha), so there is no cost to families.Β

If you're outside these areas, similar services are available through other Needs Assessment and Service Coordination (NASC) organisations.

To access LifeLinks services:
Referral: Obtain a referral from your child's GP, specialist, or contact LifeLinks directly.
Assessment: LifeLinks will assess your child's needs and determine eligibility.
Planning: They'll work with you to develop a support plan tailored to your child's needs.
