Talklink

TalkLink Trust is a New Zealand-based charitable organisation dedicated to supporting individuals with communication and participation challenges due to disabilities. Established in 1991, TalkLink provides assistive technology (AT) tools and strategies to help people communicate, learn, and interact with their environment more independently. TalkLink specialises in Communication Assistive Technology, also known as Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). These tools and strategies supplement or replace speech or writing for those with impairments in language production or comprehension. The organisation offers both low-tech solutions, such as communication boards and books, and high-tech options, including speech-generating devices and communication apps on tablets.TalkLink provides assistive technologies to aid in writing, learning, and environmental control. This includes devices and software that assist with writing, memory support, and controlling aspects of one's environment, tailored to individual needs.TalkLink serves individuals of all ages across New Zealand who face difficulties with speaking, writing, learning, or controlling their environment due to various disabilities, including physical, sensory, cognitive, intellectual, and age-related conditions. Their multidisciplinary team comprises speech-language therapists, occupational therapists, teachers, and technicians who collaborate with clients, their families, and support networks. Services are often delivered in locations chosen by the clients themselves.

 Accessing Services

TalkLink operates nationwide and holds contracts with Whaikaha (Ministry of Disabled People) and ACC, enabling them to offer free specialist assessments and services to eligible clients. Referrals can be made through their online referral form.
