11 Design & Photography

Mr Yates will be there to guide and help in your creative journey in Design and Photography.

Select from a range of design briefs and develop a range of imaginative and inspirational design solutions.  The brief to choose from include: graphic design, advertising; fashion and architecture.

This is an introductory course for students interested in Photography and/or Design.  You will learn to use a camera, along with learning Photoshop, Illustration and InDesign programmes to enable you to manipulate images and develop design ideas.  You will learn to use the design process in order to enrich your creativity.  There are options if you are taking two lines of Art at Year 11, to complete a Level 2 Printmaking or Sculpture folio in this option.

11 Visual Art  /  11 Mahi Toi

Whaea Ruth & Whaea Tash will guide your creative journey in the Visual Arts.

Taking inspiration from the world around us , these practical art courses explore and build technical skill through a variety of art disciplines including: painting, printmaking, sculpture and Tikanga Toi Maori. Throughout the year you will learn a range of skills using various wet and dry media including: pencil, pen, pastel, collage, paint, ink and natural materials.  Students will work towards a theme-based artistic folio  as well as multiple internal standards.  The skills learnt will allow students to do well in the Year 12 and 13 Fine Art (Painting, Printmaking and Sculpture) as well as Photography and Design.
