11th Grade Testing
Students are required to participate in the school-administered ACT w/ Writing, an 11th grade Science Test, and a US History Assessment during their junior year to meet Oklahoma State Graduation requirements. If a student did not complete all three tests during Junior year, students will be tested in April of their senior year.
ACT
The ACT, or American College Test, is a college entrance exam that measures a high school student's readiness for college. The ACT is also used for college admission and scholarship purposes. Students can log on to www.act.org and register to take an ACT national test, usually administered on a Saturday. Students who qualify for free/reduced lunches may be eligible for an ACT fee waiver to help cover the cost of the exam during their Junior and/or Senior Year.
Advanced Placement Exams
AP exams are administered at the end of each school year in May. Students are not required to take the test to obtain a grade in the particular course, nor are they required to take the class to take the test. There is a fee associated with each AP Exam taken that is determined by the College Board. Exam dates are also determined by the College Board including deadlines to sign up. Registration for AP Exams occurs in November.
Pre-ACT
The Pre-ACT is administered to all 10th-grade students in October/November. The test is not required, but it is free to all 10th grade students. The Pre-ACT helps measure current academic development, explore career/training options, and plan for the remaining years of high school and post-graduation years. The Pre-ACT is a predictor of what a student is likely to score on the ACT.
PSAT/NMSQT
The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit State Qualifying Test is offered only once per year during the fall semester. 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students are eligible to take the test; however, a student must take the test during their junior year to qualify for National Merit Scholarships. There is a fee associated with the PSAT/NMSQT that is determined by the College Board.
US Naturalization Test
Beginning with the Class of 2025, Oklahoma students must take a 100-question test using the questions from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website. The law requires students to correctly answer at least 60 of the 100 questions to pass. Passing the test is a graduation requirement. See House Bill 2030 (2021). This test will be offered to students at least once per school year through their social studies classes.
ASVAB
The ASVAB, or Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military, as well as a predictor of success in training and education programs regardless of post-secondary intention. Additionally, it allows students to explore careers that coincide with their unique skill-interest profile. The ASVAB is offered to 10th, 11th, and 12th grades students during the fall semester. Students must sign up through the counselor's office to take the test.
