Honors courses and Advanced Placement (AP) courses are part of the high school curriculum, which count for high school credit and meet high school graduation requirements while being taught at an advanced level. The purpose is to provide academic challenges for highly motivated students. Any course that is an honors course or AP course will have a designation next to the course in the course description on the following pages.
Things to know:
Honors classes are taught with a higher rigor and move faster than other classes to help students prepare for Advanced Placement courses offered in Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years, so please consider the workload and student maturity in deciding the best option for your student. Teacher recommendation is required before enrolling in the class
AP Courses enable willing and academically prepared students to pursue college-level studies while still in high school. The AP Program develops college-level courses that high schools can choose to offer and corresponding AP Exams that are administered once a year.
Sophomores can take a maximum of one AP Course.
All students have the opportunity to take the College Board Advanced Placement Examination offered at the end of the school year.
The cost and test date of the AP Exam is set by the College Board. AP Exams are administered at the end of each school year in May. The deadline to sign up for any AP Exam is in November
