The following is the point system for lettering in speech. The points carry over from year to year. A participation sheet is kept up for each student, for each year.

25 points for performing
5 points for a I rating
3 points for a II rating
5 points for placing 1st-3rd
District Performances
25 points for performing
8 points for a I rating
5 points for a II rating
State Performances
35 points for performing
10 points for a I rating
5 points for a II rating
All State Selections
50 points
Letter- 325 pts 1st pin- 650 pts 2nd pin- 975 pts. 3rd pin- 1300 pts.
Points for being an alternate or for performing other duties are at the coaches’ discretion.
End of season awards may include:
Rookie Award-awarded to a 1st year speech team member
Most Improved Award
Attitude Award
Darla Gaskill Most Valuable Team Member Award
These last 3 awards are typically awarded to a 4-year member of both Large Group and Individual Events.
