Drops of Diversity is a dynamic, community-driven collection of articles that explores the diversity of human experience. The site was originally designed by the library’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Team to promote cultural awareness for everyone who works at Hofheimer Library at Virginia Wesleyan University. Interest in the site is growing, so we have made the site accessible to all; however, Drops of Diversity is first and foremost a resource intended to support the staff at Hofheimer Library, the needs of our organization, and our commitment to inclusion.
We recognize that we are not experts in some of the topics we write about, and we welcome voices that can speak to a topic from a more personal, authentic experience. If you are interested in providing a personal perspective on a topic, please use the suggestion form to indicate that.
Article authorship is intentionally anonymous, and in many cases more than one person will contribute to an article. We want authors to feel comfortable sharing personal experience to lend authenticity to the articles. The library’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Team vets all articles. The intent is to provide a space of inclusion; articles that make a group feel negatively targeted would not be tolerated. The goal of Drops of Diversity is to help people feel valued, supported, and included at Hofheimer Library.
