Dear students, parents, and families,
High school is an exciting time for students! As your child’s school counselors, it is our goal to help them meet their personal, academic and career goals. This guide is designed to provide students and families with information and planning tools to navigate high school course selection and career and college planning. Each year, students and families are invited to meet with a school counselor to identify career and college goals, and select courses that will “open doors” after high school.
Every student has the support of a school counselor in the process of planning their pathway throughout the high school years. We encourage students to contribute in meaningful ways to our community through involvement in clubs, volunteer work and athletic opportunities. The Career Center shares unique opportunities with the student body as they become available. Counselors assist with graduation planning and support college, work or vocational decisions. The student’s involvement begins the first day of high school, when the counselor becomes an advocate and can guide each individual toward essential resources to become college and career ready. Students can also access support through our Career and College Center to find first-hand work experiences, meet with college and career representatives, and conduct college and career research. Our goal is to help you make informed decisions throughout high school and find success in the years beyond.
Sincerely,
The VVS High School Counselors
