There a two methods to capture video using an iPhone:
Method 1: Using the VueMotion App
Method 2: Using the iPhone Camera (not within the App)
Wipe the lens of the camera before filming to ensure there are no fingerprints or dirt on the lens
Make sure the video settings are 4K and 60fps at minimum or as required for the test
(Very Important) Select : Settings ▶ Camera ▶ Record Video ▶ 4K at 60 FPS
Make sure the 'Auto FPS' setting is set to 'OFF' in phones.
(Very Important) Select : Settings ▶ Camera ▶ Record Video ▶ Auto FPS ▶ OFF
Ensure the camera is fixed on a tripod and avoid any movement during the testing as it may cause an error with the measures
Ensure that the camera is not disturbed by notifications/calls during the recordings
Ensure that the camera has enough storage and battery for the recordings
Make sure during a start/accel that the back foot is visible in the scene.
Avoid too much dead space on either side of the cones
Make sure the camera is level. Use the grid lines to align the cones horizontally
Make sure another athlete doesn’t move in front of the camera, between the camera and testing zone, and occlude the athlete during the test.
Select the camera icon "Record and Import Video" at bottom of the screen
Select Add Test Type - Select appropriate test
Select Add Athlete - Select appropriate athlete
Select Add Tags - Select appropriate tags (if desired)
For all tests that record distances greater than 10 meters or yards:
FPS must be >= 60 fps for all tests (59.1 is ok)
Resolution must be 4K
These tests include: Walking, Acceleration, Upright – Fly, Deceleration, Broad Jump, Hurdles, 10-0-5, COD
Select either Outdoor Recording (4K - 60), or Indoor Recording (4K - 60)
iPhone 16 Pro & Pro Max have the ability to also record at 4k - 120), which is acceptable to use
The app will prompt you with a message confirming the settings
Select "Continue"
Selecting "Grid" in the top left of the screen will display a grid to ensure the camera is level to the surface being recorded
When ready, select the red "Record" button
When finished, select the record button again to stop the video
Select "Done" in the bottom left screen will direct you to the In-App Video section
You can now either upload or download videos
Select "Settings"
Select "Camera"
Select "Record Video"
Select "4K at 60 fps"
Scroll down and turn Auto HDR Video "OFF"
Scroll down and turn Auto FPS to "OFF"
From the iPhone main screen, select the camera app
Now you can record videos using the correct settings.
