Can I find and use videos of other users?

Yes, there a number of  places and ways in which you can find and use videos of others:

While uploading a video as a teacher, you can choose to post it in the Shared Repository. Other teachers can re-use these videos and add these to a Media Gallery.  To do this, go to your Media Gallery in your Canvas course and click on to the Media tab. Click on the button Add New, and choose the Shared Repository tab.

For this,  the owner of the video must first add you as Co-owner, Co-Editor, or Co-Publisher of the video. This can be done in My Media. Click on the pencil icon (Edit Media), and choose the Collaborations tab to give another user these permissions.

Can I use Kaltura for my research?

Yes, this is possible. However, it is not recommended to use Canvas for this purpose because of e.g. retention periods, but also, above all safety. Canvas courses are accessible to all students and teachers of a course and this cannot be restricted to specific users. It is recommended to use video.vu.nl in combination with Channels (see above) or to use another video platform which allows for more restrictions.

Who can I contact for support?

For any further questions, teachers can contact the faculty administrator (Canvas). Students can contact the VU Student Desk. For technical issues, please contact  the IT Servicedesk, please indicate that the issue concerns Kaltura.
