Ideas and Action

Hearing from community members is the key to building the ideas for the future that will best support Londonderry's progress. Through the process, community members shared ideas in 2 ways:

  • At the Kick-Off event on February 3rd in 4 focus forums: economic development, jobs & village Centers; youth, families & childcare; housing & transportation; and recreation, health & wellness.

  • Through the online or paper survey.

See the notes from the forums and ideas shared through surveys here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zxqfxqze0voh7qy/LondonderryCVNotesCompiled.pdf?dl=0.

VCRD distilled the notes into a list of action ideas that were presented to the community on February 25th. Over 90 community members joined by Zoom to narrow the list of priorities for community action. After lively dialogue and a dot-voting exercise, 3 action ideas emerged as key priorities. Participants then signed up for task forces that will convene to move these priorities forward: Expand Affordable Housing, Develop a Community Center, Revitalize the Village Centers/Main Street.

On March 16th, community members, facilitators, and resource team members came together virtually to develop action plans, identify resources, and begin work to implement the priorities. From here forward, all action of “One Londonderry” is focused at the task force level. Join a task force today and be part of Londonderry's future progress!
