From April 2026 to May 2026, Brandon community members generated a list of 22 action ideas and whittled it down to the 3 priorities for action. These groups are now lead at the local level by co-chairs whose contacts are listed below.

Expand Trails and Safe Walking and Biking Routes Across Town
Many residents point to challenges for those walking and biking in town, especially between downtown and Estabrook, Forest Dale, and the schools. A group could form to identify and expand safe routes for walking, biking, and scootering. They could work to connect separate networks of trails and improve usage of existing trails and routes with signage and kiosks. The group could extend and improve trails and sidewalks and improve the safety of road crossings. They could offer programming on bike safety, outdoor education, a free equipment library, and other resources. The group could also explore creating a Riverwalk.

Expand and Improve Housing
A task force could form to improve housing availability and affordability in Brandon. This group could explore senior care housing, workforce housing, and housing for those experiencing homelessness. The group could consider creating a community housing trust, partnering with Habitat for Humanity, supporting those interested in creating accessory dwelling units (ADUs), and exploring new housing materials and innovations, such as modular housing. The group could also explore health and safety issues in existing housing and identify zoning and code improvements that could address those challenges.
