To facilitate the effective use of instructional technologies the OITLab staff offer one-to-one consultation service to SOE faculty on anything related to using technology in your teaching and research project. The OITLab staff can help you brainstorm technology solution and point you to appropriate resources to compliment your goals.
Faculty need to schedule in advance for consultations by emailing oit@vt.edu to get connected with the most knowledgeable staff on your particular area of interest.
As part of our service to the School of Education at Virginia Tech, the OITLab offers an Equipment Loan Service. If you want to check out equipment for a short time period, please request an equipment loan. Walk-in service is available on a first-come, first-serve basis, though we encourage you to reserve equipment in advance by submitting the Online Equipment Request Form. Please present your Hokie ID to the GA on duty at the time to check out.

Below are some basic facts all potential borrowers should know about our services.
The equipment loan service is provided free of charge to currently employed SOE faculty, staff and currently enrolled SOE students.
Normal loan period is three days and no longer than a week.
Users have to fill out an Equipment Loan Request Form before checkout.
Users are expected to treat all equipment with the utmost responsibility and care.
Users are responsible for safe and timely return of the equipment in person.
Laptops and iPads are pre-loaded with applications /apps. If users want to install additional application/apps before checkout, please contact oit@vt.edu at least one week in advance.
At the end of the loan period, all files must be removed from the loaned equipment. All data added by user will be erased when the equipment is returned to the OITLab.
Careless handling of equipment, repeated lateness in return of loaned equipment, or abuse of equipment checkout policy will result in students losing their checkout privileges for one semester.
If the equipment is broken during the loan time, absolutely no attempt should be made by the student to repair the equipment.
Under no circumstances should any equipment in your charge be loaned to any other person. All equipment transfers must be handled through the OITLab.
Equipment is only checked out during posted lab hours.
Students must present a valid Hokie ID at the time to check out.
Equipment is checked in only during posted lab hours.
All equipment must be returned by the assigned due date and time.
Users are responsible for returning all equipment received in the same proper working condition as it was issued. OITLab staff will assess the condition of equipment upon its return.
Users are required to report any problems experienced with the equipment during the time the equipment has been in their position.
Users can renew the equipment up to twice. Users have to send renewal request email to oit@vt.edu before the due date. No renewal will be allowed when stock is low and demand is high for some equipment.
Extended loans of any equipment will be allowed only with special permission from the OIT Director (oit@vt.edu). Requests for extended loan may be approved or denied based on demand and availability of equipment.
