David earned a BS in geosciences with a geology concentration from Virginia Tech. His undergraduate research was in the petrology research group with Dr. Mark Caddick and PhD student Alix Ehlers. David is now a PhD student working with Dr. Mark Caddick studying mineral dust deposits in gas turbine engines. He is studying how minerals can melt in the combustion process and the properties that make them stick in the combustor, turbine, and exhaust nozzle as well as chemical reactions that may occur.
David is an Eagle Scout and loves the outdoors. He is always willing to discuss the aviation industry, and he loves to watch any TV show or movie that will make him laugh.
