A 150 ton end load Rockland Research piston cylinder (PC). It is equipped with an automated pressure and temperature controllers and is capable of generating pressures up to 3.0 GPa and temperatures up to 2000 °C.
A 1000 ton Rockland Research press with an octahedral, Walker-style multi anvil module.
A Deltech vertical tube furnace with gas mixing capability. This furnace is mostly used for dehydration and decarbonation of starting samples and material synthesis at known oxygen fugacity. Samples can be surrounded by air, inert gas or a CO/CO2 mixture and heated up to 1700 °C.
The lab is equipped with a full suite of equipment used for pre- and post-experimental sample prep including muffle furnaces, oven, 10 ton press, microscopes, Lampert welder, microbalance, sonicator, diamond saw, grinding and polishing.
