Fluid Inclusion Lab

The Fluid Inclusion Laboratory contains state of the art equipment for studying melt and fluid inclusions in natural and synthetic materials, including:

  • USGS-type gas-flow heating and cooling stage

  • 2 Linkam THMSG 600°C programmable heating/cooling stages (one is used almost exclusively on the Raman microprobe)

  • Linkam 1500°C stage for heating melt inclusions

  • Chaixmeca heating stage (600°C) (used mostly on the Raman microprobe)

  • Vernadsky 1500°C stage for heating melt inclusions

  • 2 Bassett-style hydrothermal diamond anvil cells

  • Leitz Orthoplan petrographic microscope (transmitted & reflected light)

  • Leitz Labrolux polarizing microscope (transmitted & reflected light)

  • Olympus BX60 microscope (transmitted & reflected light & UV) Olympus BX51 microscope (transmitted & reflected light & IR)

  • MicroPublisher 5.0 MP digital camera

  • Nikon E4500 4 MP digital camera

  • Complete sample preparation facilities
