Jessica Pharis joined Virginia Tech in August 2013 as an Office Assistant for mechanical engineering. Other positions held include Fiscal Technician for the Department of Engineering Education in May 2014, Administrative Assistant to the Department Head for the School of Communications in August 2017, Governance Assistant with the Registrar’s Office in September 2017, Administrative Support with Animal and Poultry Science in October 2017, and Administrative Assistant with the College of Liberal Arts and Human Services UAAO Operations.
Jessica's current role provides coordination, implementation, and operational support of designated programs fundamental to the university’s services. Her position interacts with university departments, administrative units, senior leadership, vendors, and contractors to provide excellent program management services conducive to the university's vision. Jessica provides administrative support and project coordination for the Executive Director of HR Consulting and Strategic Initiatives and the HRDD and HRG teams as needed.
Before coming to Virginia Tech, Jessica was enlisted in the United States Army as an 88M (Motor Transport Operator), providing technical expertise in providing the Army with motor transportation capabilities to support the movement of personnel and cargo. Jessica operated all tactical-wheeled vehicles and equipment over rough terrain and roadways to support combat operations.
Jessica earned a bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration and Business Administration in June 2014.
