Drop Off Times at the Jamestown 4-H Center (3751 4-H Club Road, Williamsburg, VA)
Teen and adult volunteers have a different drop off time that will be clarified in a separate email. Usually one hour earlier.
Camper Drop Off begins at 10am and runs until about 11am.
To make our drop-off procedure run smoothly, please follow the guidelines below:
- Have bank money out and in a bag (not packed away in a suitcase)
- Have meds? Have medication form complete for those with medicine to turn in to the camp nurse.
- Families should remain in vehicle. Campers will need to exit the vehicle during the check in process. Families will not be permitted inside the lodges. It is drive-thru ONLY. You create a safety issue and slow the process down for everyone. Be considerate of others. Teens and staff will assist their camper the rest of the way once officially checked in.
Be mindful of what you say and how you act around your camper, especially if homesickness is a concern for you or your camper. Your positive excitement for them is most important! Remind them of all the fun things they are going to experience during the week.
For concerns and emergencies during the week – the number to reach Jamestown is 757-253-4931. The number to reach the JCC Extension office is 757-564-2170. You can contact the 4-H agent via text at the provided cell phone number throughout the week, but keep in mind that an agent's job is to supervise all campers and volunteers and handle many of the issues that pop up throughout the week. Please keep your primary phone close by you during the week in case we need to get in touch with you.
Camper Pick Up begins at 10AM and runs until about 11AM. There are no staggered times for pick up.
- Have your IDs ready. You must have been listed as authorized for pick up on each individual camper's form. If there has been a change, please have the parent or guardian email the camper name and who is authorized for pick up.
- You will receive any large amount of camp bank back.
- Do not forget to collect any leftover medications if you sent your camper(s) with meds!
- Camp counselors/CIT are expected to stay until most campers have been picked up. If you are picking up a counselor/CIT, then expect them to be able to leave around 11:30AM-12pm
- Please be patient as we are moving as fast as we can. We want to get home too!
If you have any post-camp questions or lost items, please let us know by messaging/emailing the 4-H agent or calling the office on the Monday after camp.
6pm at the James City County Recreation Center - Large Meeting Rooms
Each year, we ask that at least all First Time Campers and their parents attend our JCC Junior Camp Orientation. We have found this to be extremely beneficial in alleviating questions and concerns and managing homesickness before it happens. Campers will have an opportunity to meet other campers and counselors at this event and learn about the experience. Parents will have the chance to ask questions and learn more about the experience and what they can expect. We ask that all first time camp families make it a priority to attend, regardless of whether older siblings have attended or if you've attended Jimmy James Adventure Day Camp or something of the like.
Every child is different, and this experience effects everyone differently.
