So what's a teen leadership club?
A 4-H teen club is a youth development group for teens that offers educational opportunities and activities. This group of youth and adults who meet on a regular basis together practice positive youth development and cooperative learning, especially in the areas of leadership, civic engagement, and citizenship, in efforts to create emphasis on teens becoming self-directing, contributing, and productive members of society.
Teen Leaders in James City 4-H
Although we primarily use teens between 14-19 during the summer as teen counselors, those who are interested in serving their community, knowledge about 4-H opportunities on a county, district, or statewide level, continued growth & development throughout the year, and fun social gatherings with 4-H friends, are invited to join Making Waves, our James City County 4-H Teen Club.
The purposes of this club shall be:
To promote personal growth by helping teens explore their strengths, build self-awareness, and gain confidence.
To create an engaging environment where teens learn life skills through hands-on activities and teamwork.
To develop empowered leaders who take initiative, lead with integrity, and positively impact their communities.
To nurture responsible citizenship by guiding teens to become informed, engaged, and service-oriented members of society.
The development of club members will occur through 4-H project work; club meetings, demonstrations, and community service; club, county, district, state, regional, national, and international 4-H events; and other activities.
