Band App
For 2025, we will be utilizing the Band App for text communications as it allows for more features and has less limitations. Join at this link or scan the QR code: band.us/@din4hcamp
Because of issues with emailing more than 100 people at a time, you will need to join this listserv to get the email communications. I do my best to add people individually, but some privacy settings prevent that and is limited to a certain number each week. For best results, request to join here: https://groups.google.com/a/vt.edu/g/dinwiddie4hcamp-g
Camper Drop Off Times at the Airfield 4-H Conference Center (15189 Airfield Road, Wakefield, VA 23888)
10:30-11AM – Last name: A-K
11-11:30AM – Last name: L-Z
- If you are bringing multiples that fall in either category, you can choose either.
- Directional signage will help guide you through the check in process
Counselor/CITs should arrive at 9:30. Sibling campers of teens will be able to check in early.
To make drop off run smoothly please follow the guidelines below:
- Have bank money out and in a bag (not packed away in a suitcase)
- Have meds? Have medication form complete for those with medicine to turn in to the camp nurse
- Families should remain in vehicle. Campers will need to exit the vehicle during the check in process to complete the health check with camp staff. Families will not be permitted inside the lodges. It is drive-thru ONLY. You create a safety issue and slow the process down for everyone. Be considerate of others.
Be mindful of what you say and how you act around your camper especially if homesickness is a concern for you. Your positive excitement for them is most important! Remind them of all the fun things they are going to experience during the week.
Phone/App Updates – download the BAND app. Use code @din4hcamp. We send quick notices and updates through this app and you can shoot me a message through the app as well—that is the BEST way to get in touch with me during the camping week.
For emergencies – the number to reach Airfield is 757-899-4901. Please keep a phone close by you during the week in case we need to get in touch with you. Camp calls will usually come from the landline because service is spotty.
