BIG Reminder! 

Winter Concert. Thursday, January 18th at 6:30 pm. 

Students to arrive at 6:00 pm to M.S. cafeteria. 

Students should be dressed in something that looks nice- think weddings, offical outings, church, etc. 

Read through the newsletter for updates on student progress each week. Don't forget to add important dates to your family calendars so you do not miss out on any upcoming performances of students. 

4th hour- Concert Band

Students in 4th hour worked on music to prepare for their Winter Concert. They spent extra time during their WIN time and Hawk times and after school this week to prepare. 

Don't forget to add our Winter Concert to your family calendar. Thursday, January 18th. Start time of concert is 6:30 pm. Students to arrive no later than 6:00 pm. 

Upcoming Event: Homecoming Pep Band Game - Friday, February 2nd 

• Students will perform at the Homecoming Basketball game

• Students arrive to band room no later than 4:30 pm 

• Students should be finished with games around 8:15 pm. 

  • Girls game starts at 5:30 pm

  • Boys game starts at 7:00 pm 

7th hour- 6th grade Band

6th grade students worked on music to prepare for the concert season.  Some used their hawk time to get extra practice in for their concert.

Students who are in need of an instrument for band have received the letter that is attached below.  If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out!

Missing Assignments 

All students have playing assignments throughout the school year and all assignments are to be completed outside of class time. Students in 6-8th grade can use their academic hawk time during the school day to practice and record assignments. Students in 9-12th grade can use their WIN time to complete assignments. I offer at least one day after school every week that students can stay to use the space and get extra help from me. Students are told what day(s) they can stay after at the beginning of each week and sometimes they are aware with over a weeks notice so they can plan accordingly. That day does change every week, depending on staff meetings and doctor appointments I now have. Ideally, students are taking their instrument home to practice and work on things outside of class time. 

I do take late work from students, within reason. If a student has not turned in a single assignment all semester and sends everything in right before grades are due in the gradebook/Infinite Campus, I can not guarantee I will be able to grade the playing assignment. 

Exciting news from Ms. Porter

Ms. Porter announced to the students that she is pregnant! She will be expecting a baby boy in early March 2024.
