SPREAD THE WORD! The middle and high school music department is hosting its 2nd annual Mattress Fundraiser! Last year, we had a good first year of 17 sales and we are hoping to double that number for this year. We need your help in spreading the word! The VP fieldhouse will be turned into a mattress showroom. All proceeds go towards helping to purchase new instruments, sheet music, and trips for students' individual accounts. Tell a friend, family member, neighbor, or coworker! We all need a new mattress at some point, why not support the local students and get a high quality mattress at the same time. Test out 30 different mattresses, purchase new sheets or pillows, or take a spin in the massage chair- we'd love to help you get a better night sleep and help the music program all at the same time! The event is ONE day ONLY! September 16th!
We'll see you on Saturday, September 16th from 10 am - 5 pm.! Students have referral forms to pass out to family and friends. When students are referenced at the event, money will be deposited directly into their band student account. These funds can be used for upcoming trips/field trips/instrument repairs.
Students in 3rd hour worked on music to prepare for Heros Day in November.
Students in 4th hour reviewed their basic warm ups for band and continued to work on patriotic music for Hero's Day.
7th graders worked with a high school student helper to review their music warm ups from last year. 6th grade students made their final decisions on instrument choices. All students are now assigned an instrument and can take the instrument home to practice. They have all received information on how to rent or acquire their own personal instrument, if you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to reach out. If students are using a school instrument, the instrument use policy is due back by September 7th.

The band room has a student teacher this semester! Nick Neuendorf is a senior at Webster University and is working towards his degree of Music Education. He will be working with all grade levels of band students throughout the 1st semester. This week he has led the symphonic band in one of their songs for Heros Day. He has also worked in small groups with students from the other classes.
