Astera Health
Astera Health Care offers scholarships to area students interested in pursuing a career in a health-related field. Applications are due April 1, 2025. Application details are here - https://asterahealth.org/foundation/
BizWorks
The BizWorks Scholarship is for students pursuing a degree in business, or any business-related field, including skilled trades. This may include but is not limited to Human Resources, Public Affairs, Marketing, Sales, Management, Cosmetology, Carpentry, and Plumbing. Students must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA, community involvement, and complete an essay. Applications are due March 15, 2025, or the following Monday if that falls on a weekend. It's requested that all applications are completed on the computer. No handwritten applications. Up to three $500 scholarships will be awarded to area graduating seniors.
Bob Schultz Memorial Math Scholarship
The Family of Bob Schultz wishes to encourage seniors graduating from Verndale High School to pursue educational training at the post-secondary level. The graduating senior must be planning to continue his/her education at a college, university, community college, or technical college. Preference will be given to a student in the math department. The award amount will be $250.00. Applications are due to Mrs. Lehmkuhl by April 4, 2025.
Citizens Scholarship Foundation of Verndale
The Citizens Scholarship Foundation of Verndale awards students planning to attend a post-secondary institution, and have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students must complete a scholarship resume and required essay questions. The number of scholarships awarded and their amounts vary each year. Applications are due to Mrs. Lehmkuhl by April 4, 2025.
Courage Scholarship
Verndale community members, Tony and Michelle Stanley, desire to assist seniors graduating from Verndale High School in furthering their education. The graduating senior must be planning to continue their education at the university, college, community college, trade school, or work apprenticeship level. Preference will be given to a student who has demonstrated the ability to overcome academic or personal obstacles in achieving their educational goals. One $250 scholarship will be awarded. More information about the scholarship can be found below. Students must submit a scholarship resume, essay, and scholarship cover page to Mrs. Lehmkuhl by April 4, 2025.
Drama Scholarship
One $250 scholarhip ( in honor of Aletha, Becca, and Olivia Stanley) will be awarded to a graduating senior. Must have at least 2 years drama experience (this can include being part of the crew) and complete an essay. Applications are due April 11, 2025 to Mrs. Lehmkuhl
Donna Waldahl Educational Scholarship
The Donna Waldahl Educational Scholarship gives preference to students pursuing a career in education. The award is one $500 scholarship and students must complete a scholarship resume and essay questions. Applications are due to Mrs. Lehmkuhl by April 4, 2025.
Lakewood Health System
Lakewood Health System is offering one $1,000 scholarship to a student interested in pursuing a career in health-related fields. Eligible students must have a 3.0 GPA, complete the application and essay, and have one letter of recommendation. Applications are to be emailed to Gretchen Bestland at gretchenbestland@lakewoodhealthsystem.com. Due April 13, 2025.
LaNette Aeling CTE Scholarship
Former Verndale teacher, LaNette Aeling, encourages Verndale seniors to pursue a Career and Technical Education training at the post-secondary level. The graduating seniors must be planning to continue their eduacation at a college, university, or community & technical college. Preference will be given to those pursuing a career in Family and Consumer Science, Agriculture, Business, Industrial Arts, or related fields. Scholarship amount varies each year. Larry “Cork” & Ruth Anderson Scholarship
Larry “Cork” & Ruth Anderson Scholarship is in memory and honor of Cork and Ruth and gives back to the community members. The scholarship is for students pursuing a skill-based career and attending a 1-2 year technical or community college. Two, $500 scholarships are available. Applications are due to Mrs. Lehmkuhl by April 4, 2025.
Masonic Lodge Scholarship
The Masonic Lodge Scholarship awards a one-time $1,000 scholarship to a student displaying financial need. Other criteria include community service and involvement and future aspirations. Students must complete a scholarship resume and essay questions. Applications are due to Mrs. Lehmkuhl by April 4, 2025.
Park Rapids Disabled American Veterans Chapter 38
The Park Rapids Disabled American Veterans Chapter 38 and it's Auxiliary are awarding seven $1,000 scholarships to area students that are the son/daughter, brother/sister, grandson/granddaughter, or great-grandson/granddaughter of a veteran. Applicants must submit a teacher or counselor recommendation, transcript, and essay question. For the full list of requirements, see the application letter posted below. Applications are to be postmarked by April 1, 2025.
Todd-Wadena Electric Cooperative
The Todd-Wadena Electric Cooperative will award up to four $1,000 scholarships to area graduating seniors. Eligible students must be the son/daughter of a Todd-Wadena member, have a 2.0 GPA or better, be involved in extracurricular activities, and be starting college during the next school year. The entire application must be typed. It can be downloaded from the website HERE, click on Educational and Scholarships. A copy is linked below for your reference. Applications are due February 10, 2025. They need to be mailed directly to Todd-Wadena Electric Cooperative.
Verndale Education Association
The Verndale Education Association will award a scholarship(s) to students pursuing a degree in education. Students must complete a scholarship resume and essay questions. Applications are due to Mrs. Lehmkuhl by April 4, 2025.
Verndale Lions Club
The Verndale Lions Club awards scholarships to students planning to attend a post-secondary institution. Four $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. Students must complete a scholarship resume and essay questions. Applications are due to Mrs. Lehmkuhl by April 4, 2025.
West Central Telephone Association
West Central Telephone Association awards eight $1,000 scholarships to area WCTA members. Students must have maintained a “C” average, participated in school activities, and completed service within the community. Magnifi Financial (formally Central Minnesota Credit Union)
Magnifi Financial offers up to $20,000 in scholarships for its members. Eligibility includes being a member of Magnific Financial and being a part or full-time student at a two or four-year university. Applications are available now online and are due January 31, 2025. Todd County Corn & Soybean Growers Scholarship
The Todd County Corn and Soybean Growers Association, an affiliate of the Minnesota Corn Growers Association would like to announce an Agriculture Scholarship Program. The association will award up to two $1,000 scholarships to qualifying students who are pursuing a degree in agriculture. The program is sponsored by the National Corn Growers Association. Morrison/Crow Wing County Corn & Soybean Growers Scholarship
To be eligible, applicants' permanent address must be in Morrison or Crow Wing County. You must be planning to attend a two or four-year post-secondary institution for an agriculture-related field. Pemberton Law- Legal Leadership Scholarship
Pemberton Law is committed to supporting the education and development of future legal professionals by offering scholarships to eligible students seeking a career in the legal field. Recipients will be chosen annually from each of Pemberton Law’s locations and the surrounding areas of Fergus Falls, Alexandria, Detroit Lakes, and Wadena, Minnesota. Individuals enrolled in high school, a collegiate program, or law school are encouraged to apply. For the Wadena, MN area, one $500 scholarship will be awarded. The deadline is March 31, 2025. Are you interested in Concordia College? Ask Mrs. Tackmann to do an alumni referral for you! All students who get a referral and attend Concordia College get a $500 grant that is renewable up to three times for a total of $2,000. Click HERE for more information.

AgCountry Farm Credit Services
Ag Country Farm Credit Services are offering $1,000 scholarships for seniors entering college in the fall of 2025. Students must live in a county served by AgCountry Services. A full list of counties is available on the application (Wadena & Todd are included). Students must be from an actively farming or ranching family OR planning to pursue a career in some other aspect of agriculture including agricultural extension, agricultural education, farm and ranch management, agricultural finance, veterinary medicine, or agribusiness. Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) Scholarship
The Minnesota Corn Growers Association awards four $5,000 scholarships to its young members. Eligibility requirements include being a current MCGA member, enrolled as a full-time student at a post-secondary education institution during the fall of 2025 pursuing a career or degree in an agriculture-related field. Minnesota FarmHouse Fraternity Incoming Freshman Scholarship
Scholarships are available for male high school seniors or transfer students who are enrolling at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities this coming fall. There will be a total of $3,000 in scholarships awarded. They will range from $250 to $1,000 and are open to all majors. The criteria that scholarships are awarded on include the student’s: Academic Achievement, Leadership Experience, Athletic Involvement, and Career Motivation. Minnesota Athletes in Sports Medicine Scholarship
Sports & Orthopedic Specialists and Allina Health are proud to present the 11th annual Minnesota Athlete in Sports Medicine Scholarship. Two $2,500.00 scholarships are available and will be awarded to one male and one female graduating high school student-athlete who intend to pursue a professional career in sports medicine. Lakes Area Manufacturing Alliance (LAMA) Scholarship
LAMA is awarding scholarships to students pursuing a certificate or degree in manufacturing careers. To be eligible students must be graduating in the class of 2024, have a 2.0 GPA, and reside in the Cass, Crow Wing, Morrison, Todd, or Wadena counties. Applications are due March 31, 2024. Minnesota Telecom Alliance Foundation Scholarship
Applicants must be a Minnesota residents and receive at least one service from a telephone company that is a member of the Minnesota Telecom Alliance. Applicants must submit ACT/SAT scores, a high school transcript, an essay, and two appraisal forms (counselor/advisor/administrator and a teacher of their choosing). Minnesota Benefit Association (MBA) Scholarships Program
Apply by April 15, 2025, to be eligible to win a $1,000 scholarship. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need, academic achievement, vocational goals, employment history, community involvement and an original essay. Horatio Alger Association State Scholarships
The state scholarships are for students that have overcome great obstacles in their lives. To be eligible you must be a high school junior, committed to completing a Bachelor's Degree, demonstrate financial need, be involved in co-curricular activities, display adversity and perseverance, cumulative GPA of 2.0, and be a U.S. citizen. Minnesota Association of Townships Scholarship Program
The Minnesota Association of Township (MAT) awards up to five $2,000 scholarships to high school juniors. All juniors are welcome to apply. Wadena County has had past winners! Applications are due June 1. Applications and more information can be found on their website. Click HERE.
Horatio Alger Association
Horatio Alger Association awards scholarships and grants annually ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 to students who demonstrate financial need. The Horatio Alger program seeks students who have exhibited determination, integrity, and perseverance in overcoming adversity, as well as critical financial needs. Many scholarships are available through the Horatio Alger Association. Applications are available from December-March 15. Coca Cola Scholar Foundation
The Coca Cola Scholars Foundation offers 150 scholarships of $20,000 each to graduating seniors in the U.S. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. The deadline is September 30, 2024. Apply HERE.
Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship

Hagan Scholarship Foundation
The Hagan Scholarship Foundation is a need-based merit scholarship for rural students. Students must have a 3.75 GPA, must be attending a four-year college or university in the fall, must have 240 hours of work in the twelve months prior to the start of each academic year of college. Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship

Equitable Excellence Scholarship
Equitable Excellence Scholarships provide 100 $5,000 scholarships that will be renewed annually for four years totaling $20,000 are available to seniors who are determined to succeed and have demonstrated achievement at a job or extra-curricular activities.
