Ms. Porter

Hi everyone!

I am Laura Porter, the 6-12th grade Valley Park Band Director. The school year of 2025-2026 marks my 12th year in the district and my 6th year in the band room! I am very fortunate to have such amazing students each and every year and feel so lucky that I have taught many of them since elementary school! I have a bachelors degree in Music Education from Murray State University, in Kentucky and a masters degree in Music Education from the University of Central Missouri.  I enjoy performing with community music ensembles, such as the Meramec Community Band and CHARIS women's chorus. I have had the opportunity to perform at Powell Symphony Hall twice when the symphony does a link up with local educators. My husband and I got married in October of 2022 and had Valley Park band students play the entire processional and recessional music. We welcomed our son in March of 2024. When I'm not teaching, I love to garden, spend time with family and friends, hike, camp, and fish.
