"Growth Happens When We Help Others Flourish"
My teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that true growth is only possible when we help others develop. As a scholar and educator committed to building resilience, I view teaching as an opportunity not only to transmit knowledge but to empower students to overcome challenges and thrive within diverse communities. Informed by principles of inclusivity, evidence-based practice, and a growth mindset, I design my courses and instructional methods to foster both individual and collective development.
Drawing on experiences as a teaching assistant across doctoral, master’s, and undergraduate levels—including SW628 (Critical Review of Research Literature), SOWK 540 (Social Welfare Advocacy and Action), and Social Work 315 (Introduction to Macro Social Work Practice)—I have supported students in analyzing research literature, designing advocacy strategies, and cultivating critical thinking skills. Through these roles, I have developed a student-centered, adaptive approach that emphasizes self-reflection, peer learning, and clear guidance, ensuring that each student is recognized for their unique strengths and supported in their academic journey.
My approach is further informed by interdisciplinary insights and my commitment to continuous professional development, integrating innovative methodologies such as systematic reviews, meta-analysis, and the effective use of digital tools in social work education. I believe that fostering a classroom culture of mutual support and intellectual curiosity not only enhances individual student growth but also advances the mission of social work to build resilient, inclusive, and equitable communities.
