Sangmi has conducted public health and policy research on topics such as violent political rhetoric, behavioral health, and energy justice. Through her involvement in NSF- and DOE-funded projects, she has developed survey instruments and actively supported community engagement efforts, particularly in underserved areas.
In addition, Sangmi has contributed to both qualitative and quantitative studies addressing issues like intimate partner violence, transportation equity, and financial socialization. Across these interdisciplinary projects, she has co-authored multiple manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, further advancing knowledge in the social sciences.
