Week 6 check in:
Right now i have been working on my goals, but i haven't achieved very far just yet, it's only at like 40~50%ish, and I have more room to approve in the future.
This is my research project, we choose a topic and research about said topic. For me, i choose Binary code because it caught the most interest in me, I gathered data and facts about binary code to create a presentation you can interact down below.
This is my feedback form I got from my partner in math class, this indicates how well i did when I first made the presentation. After the inital presentation, i got a lot of feedback from my peers, most of them says it's pretty good, what i could change in the presentation is talking about the patterns binary code might have, I could change it by adding images and text regarding certain patterns.
The most interesting thing i learned about binary code is that there was a lot of people that was working on it, but one person was credited to be the inventor, which really surprise me. Some parts of the research process was kind of difficult, like finding and explaining the system it was using, and explaining the inventor of modern binary code and talking about the earliest binary code known to man. I overcame this by researching deeper into said research and making mental notes to remember when presenting. The skills I improved the most is probably my research and explaining skills, by doing a lot of research and deep discoveries, I am able to find information needed for the presentation, my explanation skills also improved a lot, because of the amount of presentations i have talked about, I can speak clearly and confidently when it's my turn to present. I really wished i have more time on this project, so that I can add more information and research about binary code, and have a much deeper understanding than anyone else. After this project, it really changed the way I view math. Before this, I thought that math is really annoying to do, but now i realized that there's a lot of things that are tied with math, Like binary code for example. It was really fun when doing this project and I hope to see it again some day. This project connects to PBL, because the research and data analysis is very similar, and basically some sort of practice to help me improve my overall researching skills.
This is a where's Waldo activity where we have to find the item and solve math equations when we find them
This a math crossword where we look at the description and figure out what is the word that fits into the space
This is an activity that is talking about graphs and it's like a small lesson with question that helps us learn graph the simplest way
Activities Reflection
People would learn about me by looking at my work. From the Where's Waldo activity, they can learn about my observation skill and my work from finding and doing the question by finding the item. From the graphing eqaution activity, they can learn about my skills on graphing by using data and equations. From the crossword activity, they can learn about the vocabulary I am learning and find out of my understanding with math.
My specific area of growth is to improve my understanding of math, and I can do it by paying attention and ask the teacher if stuck in a spot.
Week 13 check in:
An evidence that best shows my growth is my notes, it can show how i remember what we learnt and that i actively participate in class and keep important information for the future
This is my algebra Project where i use math to make a fun summer camp
The hardest part of the modelling is figuring out what equation are best fit for the numbers and information i have for the project. Using Math makes it so some graphs has a better visual and better understanding. If the budget has increased to 50000NTD, I would add more activities so that it doesn't end so quickly. From the number of participants, we can adapt and change the amount of activities or food is needed, making it easier to be cost efficient. A strategy I used for minimizing the cost is first figuring out the cheapest activity, by using models, we can find out the food depending on the preferences.
This is one of the activities we did and i learnt about how math is implemented into coding
Writing code is like doing an equation but with a template, we can use the blocks to make an eqaution and doing that lets us make a functioning calculator. When making an error, you have to disassemble the code and remake it again, similar to when having an error in a math equation where you have to start from where the math is wrong. What suprised me about coding is that i'm using scratch again, it's been a while since i've used it so it's good to use it again. Something i can do now before scratch is making a math project using it.
How does your Mathematics portfolio work connect to two or more assignments from other classes (including PBL
My portfolio work connects to PBL and science, for PBL, it uses basic math to know the size of the magazine and materials needed. For science, it's basically the same thing with PBL, mainly materials and project things. This portfolio also connects to one of the pripject which is the eco house project, since it shares some similarities, like the equation. One of the peer feedback i got for the algebra project is the layout and the graph so that it help us with the project.
