1️⃣ Reflection on Last Semester
One strength I demonstrated in English class is writing about the differences and similarities between books and films, and one challenge I face is the stuff I have to research. Sometimes the websites have information which doesn’t help with the research. One assignment that stands out amongst the sea of homework is the comparison between the book and the film for The Hunger Games.
2️⃣ Communication Self-Assessment
I think that my current abilities aren't that great, and I have the following reasons why I want to improve my reading, writing and speaking/discussions skills to help with my future assignments and work. My reading skills is okay, i can follow the story and the plot while summarizing the book itself in my mind. My writing skills are semi-decent, but it needs some improvement. Sometimes the stuff I wrote doesn’t quite match up to the rubrics. Currently, the skill itself is fine the way it is, it’s good to discuss with others and help each other with the problems we might have in common.
3️⃣ Goals for This Semester
Goal i have for this semester is to improve my overall writing skills by using techniques I might learn in this semester to better upgrade the quality of my work and another I have in mind is to have a better summarizations to things so that it can help with statements and arguments in the future.
The assignment i wrote for Unit 1 is an persuasive article about the problem we chose and explaining it to the audience(reader). The goal of my article is to help people better understand problems which are ignored in Taiwan, and the article style i used is the NGO advocacy article, which is explaining a social issue and talking about why changes is needed for this issue.I chose to focus on the issue or inequalities that is happening in Taiwan currently
The issue i chose in the ned is the inequalities in Housing prices because it is a major problem that is happening currently in Taiwan and it deserves more attention because it talks about the problems of housing prices and this specific issue is both a local issue in Taiwan and also a global issue to the world because of the lack of affordability. This issue tend to be both ignored and misunderstood, because of the data sometimes being outdated or just ignored. My article try and influence the readers by making them think why is the government doing these things and the affects about this problems.
The intended audience for my article is the people who were curious about the prices of housing and wanted to know more about it. The tone i chose for this article is a kinda analytic, which i talk about the problems of inequalities of housing price and using an introduction one the first paragraph to help th audience have a pre understanding of what I am talking about. I included an article talking about a similar problem and crediting them in the article, I also talked about some examples like the pricings, people who are affected and such. My writing will influence te audience to take action upon the government and property speculator in order to maintain the balance.
A feedback i got from my peers and teacher that really influence my writing is to break ideas into shorter and more controlled sentences. Some improvements i can use is to add clear reasoning and example to better help my answer to the problem, and tell more about the possible ways to help restore the balance. This assignment talks about using article to influence and change how people see a certain problem that is bothering us gives an understanding to it. This assignment connected to some of my previous work in english class, I used some aspect of literary analysis to help to understand the situation and argumentative essay to encourge people to follow and remove the problem. Some skills that i want to improve is my overall writing skills because of the long run sentences i have and also my argument of the problems, i would like to improve my research skills so that i have the information to create the argument.

This is the ig post for the unit, I used short descriptions and images to help gen z and gen alphas know aboout the RAM crisis
This is my Short form video where i briefly explain the RAM situation and has visuals to help support the claim
Reflection:
The issue I chose for my products is “How RAM prices affect the market” and the main message is to explain and inform people about problems with RAM and their market. My three media products are web articles, Instagram posts and reels respectively. I chose these because web articles can give millennials a better understanding while posts and reels are mainly for Gen Z’s and Gen Alpha’s. These affect the tone by matching it to the respective age group, Gen Z and Gen Alpha use pictures to help them understand and more words for millennials. The messages by the format, web articles prefer going straight forward while posts and reels use videos and image to explain. I tried to follow and general post to make my ppt, but conventions shapes my information by giving me crucial data for it. I think the reels is the most effective to convey my message, since most gamers use shorts and video to learn and such. The most difficult one to make is probably the article, because we have to find links to better support the issue and it’s mostly words, so grammar mistakes are common. In the end, the products teaches me about the difference between the products and the people that are in that category.
This is my fact check a claim poster and I made it to show a claim people might not understand quite well
Unit 3 reflection:
What worked for my final unit 3 project is the information given to the audience, even though the poster is short and plain, it does give people a better understanding to the claim and also facts that helps it communicate more effectively, but there is some limited impact, it doesn’t have a widespread effects, so some people would just ignore the poster and go look at bigger ones like mini-exhibits or maps, those give a clearer and better explanations. Some Connections between Fahrenheit 451 and the real world is that there are wars happening during the time and also censorship in between, which makes the book a bit similar to what we have now. For example, in Fahrenheit 451, burning books is consider censorship, and in the real world, the white terror era is where the whole censorship truama happens. In the end, I think that Fahrenheit 451 is a good representation of The White Terror.
Final Reflection:
A thing I am proud of is making an instagram post that talks about the ram crisis, I am also improved my writing skills and critical thinking by writing things like comparisons between Fahrenheit 451 and real world with connections as well, but some places I still need to improve is my researching, since I mostly use the first article I see. One thing that is challenging was comparing the book and real life, since they are similar and doesn’t have like a noticeable difference.
