Strategies for Staying Safe Online
In this first PBL presentation, we talked about an super important topic for Today "Phishing", what it is, how it works, and why it infects us in the internet.
Then, we divided phishing into 2 parts, Direct Tricks and Hidden Threats and tell how can they hack us. Also some easy ways to stay safe online too, like how to find suspicious emails and links, check who the sender is, use two-step verification, and change passwords often. By giving simple examples and tips, we want to help everyone use the internet more safely and more happily.👍🌟
Group Driving Questions ❓
The topic of our group project is “Group Driving Questions.” Our group focused on how digital literacy and geographic qualities affect people’s lives. We explored questions about digital inequalities between developed and developing countries and how quality of life affects digital weakness. We worked together to explain these ideas and give real examples, showing how internet access, location, and skills can change people’s opportunities in life.
Digital Footprints: 👣
The left worksheet is about digital footprints, what apps that we like to use online. (Including games, social media and other apps.) Also it talks about the Responsible actions and online risks. 🛜 👍
Understanding Digital Literacy and other Topics: 💭🤔
The right worksheet is about understanding the meaning of each phase or words mean and using our own words to write it out. 📚🌟
Guest Speaker About Internet Safety 🛜
Today, Mr. Gert Brand, our science teacher, came to our class to teach us about digital literacy and online safety. During his talk, I learned something that really surprised me, how hackers can actually hack into our accounts. 💻
He also talked different kinds of attack , and I realized that students in Taiwan often face WiFi risks the most. This is because many students try to connect to free WiFi when their home internet is limited, which makes it easier for hackers to attack.
Comparing to a developing country that has bigger digital risks due to weaker internet safety and more online scams. Mr. Brand also explained how improving cybersecurity can make our lives better by protecting our education, jobs, health, and safety. After the class, I decided that I will take to protect myself is to avoid keeping WiFi on all the time and to use different passwords for different accounts.
Quality of Life Comic Planner Questions
This worksheet compares two fictional teenagers from Canadada (a high-income country) and Indiaia (a low-income country).
Alexandra, 14, lives in a large modern house with reliable electricity, clean water, fast internet, private school, and advanced medical care. Her parents have professional jobs, and her main challenge is stress from schoolwork.
Lucas, 12, lives in a small house with limited resources, walks a long way to public school, and only has access to small, expensive clinics. His family works on farms and small jobs. While he faces resource shortages, he enjoys spending time with family and friends.
The worksheet highlights clear differences in living conditions and daily life between the two countries.
After completing this worksheet, we turned these two stories into a presentation to show the differences in quality of life between developed and developing countries.
(The presentation is down below ⬇️ )
1️⃣.Developing Country Story~ 📚📉
This presentation was made up according to the worksheet above, it introduces Lucas’s life in a developing country.
It follows his daily routine, starting with his simple morning activities before heading to school. Through the slides, we learn about his daily life, family situation, and the challenges he faces, such as limited resources and fewer opportunities compared to those in developed countries. Despite these difficulties, Lucas remains hopeful and determined.
The presentation ends by highlighting his dreams and wishes for a better future, showing that he stays strong and hopeful.
2️⃣.Developed Country Story~ 📚📈
This presentation is also an fiction story according to the worksheet above, it introduces Alexandra’s life in a developed country.
It shows her daily routine, school life, and the opportunities she enjoys, such as good education, modern technology, and a comfortable home.
However, living in a developed country also brings new challenges. Alexandra faces issues related to digital literacy, like learning how to stay safe online and protect her personal information from being hacked. The presentation highlights both the advantages of her environment and the digital challenges she needs to overcome.
In this presentation we talked about our driving question,"How can chat bots(ChatGPT) positively influence teenagers to prevent them from falling into crime?"
At first we were very stressed and frustrated because while everyone is working on their presentation, we are still changing the driving so that the driving question can match with SDGs. So we began to discuss together and finally made out this driving question! We think that we need to tell everyone what is the correct way to use chatbots ( like ChatGPT or Meta AI) not just doing bad things and sometimes doing crime without notice.
In this presentation we talked about 2 examples about if people lost their minds or using chatbots in the wrong way. And teach how can teenagers use chatbots in positive ways, for example free education, scheduled planning and email composition. And last how it related to SDGS, we related 16.4 "Significantly reduce illicit financial and arms flows, strengthen the recovery and return of stolen assets and combat all forms of organized crime by 2030".
During my Exhibition project, I improved my critical thinking by comparing my earlier ideas with the new information I researched. I learned to check if my first plan made sense and changed parts that were not realistic. This helped me make better decisions and understand my topic more deeply. For example, I will search online and check some information to make sure it is true. And now, I think more carefully before adding anything to my project, and I make sure the sources are reliable. I also ask questions when something doesn’t seem right, which helps me create stronger and more accurate work.
My work habits have improved because I manage my time better and break tasks into smaller steps. I learned to stay focused in class and finish parts of the project earlier so I don’t feel rushed. I am also more organized with my notes and research, which helps me work more smoothly. Also I will make a to-do list remind me what should I do first and next. Knowing what is the most important things to do at the right time.
I grew in collaboration because I learned how to share ideas clearly with my group and listen to others. When I received feedback, I used it to improve my work instead of feeling stressed. This helped my project become stronger, and I learned that teamwork makes difficult tasks easier.
Also in our group we had a very wonderful teamwork, for example when we are choosing the driving questions we were very stressed and frustrated because while everyone is working on their presentation, we are still changing the driving so that the driving question can match with SDGs. So we began to discuss together and finally made out this driving question! This
Through PBL, I learned to be more aware of what I post online and how it affects my digital reputation. I now double-check information, avoid sharing personal details, and think carefully before using online tools. This project taught me to be a more responsible and safe digital user. In the past, I didn’t really think about how my online actions could follow me or affect my future. I sometimes shared things without checking if they were safe or necessary. Now I understand the importance of protecting my digital footprint and making smarter choices online.
I learned how different countries have different levels of safety, education, and access to technology. Understanding these inequalities helped me see why some people face more challenges than others. It also made me think about how small actions—like spreading awareness, can help improve quality of life.
This project helped me understand how geography affects people’s access to the internet, resources, and opportunities. I learned that where you live can impact your safety, education, and even how much technology you can use. This helped me connect my topic to real-world communities.
