Thank you for your interest in contributing to forgingUS! We look forward to working with you in connecting U.S. history to its diverse people and stories.
This page is your first step in proposing a project, resource, or classroom activity for inclusion on forgingUS. Before you begin, please review the guidelines below to ensure your idea aligns with the site's goals.
We welcome idea outlines that:
Reflect on historically grounded themes related to U.S. history.
Highlight multiple perspectives, especially those historically underrepresented in traditional narratives.
Support learning or teaching contexts (classroom lessons, community education, curricular units, multimedia resources, public history projects, etc.).
Include clear learning goals and a sense of how users will engage with the content.
When you submit your idea, try to address the following:
Title of your proposed project or resource
Brief description of your idea (What is it? What will it do?)
Audience (e.g., grade level, educators, public learners)
Core themes and historical questions your idea will explore
Why this contribution matters to the broader goals of forgingUS
Any supporting materials or reference sources you plan to use
Providing thoughtful responses helps us understand your vision and support you in developing your exhibit.
