How long should an exhibit be?

An exhibit should include one overview page and three to seven sections. See "What is an exhibit section?" or "How long should a section be?" for more information.

What is an exhibit section?

A section is a self-contained webpage or unit within the exhibit. Each section should:

• Introduce a focused idea, theme, or moment related to the main question.

• Engage directly with one or more primary sources.

• Be readable both as an independent webpage, and as a part of the exhibit whole.

How long should a section be?

Sections may range in length, but many sections will fit between 1000 and 1400 words (including headings, pull quotes, etc).
