TEAM 2:   The Birth of the New Year Spirit

Before time had a name, winter ruled the earth in silence. Days were short, nights were endless, and hope slept beneath the frozen ground. 

The Jade Emperor watched the world from the heavens and felt the weight of this silence. He knew that people needed more than seasons—they needed a beginning. 

So he gathered the four ancient forces:

 the Dragon of Courage,

 the Phoenix of Renewal,

 the Tiger of Protection and

 the Moon Rabbit of Wisdom. 

Together, they shaped a spirit made of light, fire, and breath. When the spirit opened its eyes, the sky turned red and gold. 

“This will be the Spirit of the New Year,” the Emperor declared.

 “Each year, it will return to awaken hearts, chase away darkness, and remind the world to begin again.”But the spirit needed a path to enter the human world. The Dragon carved the sky with fire, creating fireworks. The Phoenix scattered red ribbons of luck. The Tiger guarded the door between years. And the Moon Rabbit beat time with its gentle drum. 

When people saw the lights, heard the sounds, and felt the warmth, they gathered together. Their laughter gave the spirit its final breath. From that night on, the New Year Spirit was born again every year— in every lantern lit,in every wish whispered,and in every brave step toward tomorrow. 

And that is why Chinese New Year is not just a celebration.

 It is the rebirth of hope itself
