The museum of Department of Zoology is an archive of specimens belonging to different phyla of the animal kingdom. Each one of the collections of about 130 specimens pertaining to Invertebrata and Chordata are unique with amazing features having scientific interest.
Some of the interesting collections include Sycon sponge, Corals, Jelly fish, Sea pen, Sea gooseberry, Stony coral, Tapeworm, Amphridite, Sea mouse, Balanus, Leaf insect, Ghost insect, Hermit crab with sea anemone, Stick insect, Sea lemon, Sea slug, Pearl oyster, Solen, Brittle star, Cake urchin, Heart urchin, Electric ray, Hammer-headed Shark, Petromyzon, Sucker fish, Torpedo, Salamander, Rhacophorus, Chamaeleon, Viper, Naja, Krait, Bat.
Impressive models of Ant eater (Pangolin), Archaeopteryx, Triceratops, Sphenedon, Stegosaurus, Human digestive system, Dinosaur, Ignaudon, Snake head with poison gland and fang are on display, in addition to stuffed animals such as Pigeon and rabbit. The museum has skeleton and bones of a variety of animals including skull of horse and frog entire skeleton.
Museum collection of types of heart and brain as well as embryological specimens (Placenta of rat and pig; Embryos of shark, monkey, pig, rabbit; Development of frog, chick and rat) providing evolutionary evidences are also displayed.
The museum collection is an important teaching resource for the department highlighting the diversity of animal life.
