III. Outreach Activity of the Department

As extension activity of Department of Zoology organized a “ Zoo Expo 2019 “- Zoology exhibition for school children on 28.2.2019 on the National Science day by Dept. of Zoology. More than 300 school children from CSI, Bisop Corie Matriculation higher secondary School were benefitted.

IV. STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS 2018-2019

• On 16 October, 2018, Food Safety Programme was organized by the NSS Units in association with the Department of Food Safety, Government of Tamilnadu and Eat Healthy India Movement. NSS volunteers from the Department of Zoology put up an impressive mime show emphasizing the importance of food safety.

• N. Mahalakshmi of II B. Sc., Zoology won Arivu Kathir Award in Science Review Competition organized by MTS Academy, Rainbow HRD, Nehru Yuva Kendra and University of Madras on 8th Dec 2018.

• Ms. R. Soundhariya, II B. Sc., Zoology participated in Pre RD training from 13 to 16 September, 2018  organized by NSS, University of Madras. She made the department and the institution proud by participating in the State RD parade on 26th January, 2019. She also took part in the National Adventure Festival, held in Chandigarh from 02 February 2019 to 10 February, 2019, as part of the NSS Team from the University of Madras.

• The following students from II B. Sc., Zoology won prizes in the Essay Writing and Drawing Competitions held on 22nd January, 2019 in National Gastro Expo organized by Gem Hospital, Chennai:

o   S. Kirithiga -  I Prize in Essay Writing- Cash Award of Rs.10,000/-

o   R. Kavitha - III Prize in Essay Writing- Cash Award of Rs.2,500/-

o   T. Hemadarshini - III Prize in Drawing- Cash Award of Rs.2,500/-

o   Candida - III Prize in Drawing- Cash Award of Rs.2,500/-

• R. Kirthiga of II B.Sc., Zoology won second prizes in Zootopia competition held in WCC College, organized by dept of Zoology, Chennai.
