Y4H club present the Y4H curriculum modules during meetings, but your meetings can go beyond just the curriculum.
The way you organize meetings may vary depending on how often you meet or the duration of the meetings.
You may only have time to go over curriculum or upcoming events, but it also may be important to incorporate other engaging activities & conversation while doing so. Many clubs have facilitated half the meeting for curriculum and the other half for other engagements.
Involve other people in presenting the modules:
You can have your members read aloud facts on index cards or facilitate broader conversations related to the module topics. And of course, invite guest speakers whenever you can!
Be creative & "customize the modules:"
Although you can't change the facts & statistics, you can add things to make the curriculum unique & personalized to your club.
Examples:
Add in your own current events for your area.
Add in your "Next Meeting" details & your other meeting plans to each module powerpoint.
Although a serious topic, some students have included (appropriate) gifs or memes to make the modules more engaging & related.
Take your time!:
Don't rush through any modules; they can be broken up into multiple meetings.
Especially if you are a school Y4H club, you typically have the entire year to go through the modules. Some meetings have been entirely focused on planning an event or having a guest speaker, so you can be flexible. Just make sure you stay in contact with you Y4H Coach throughout the process.
Open with a meeting agenda and upcoming announcements.
Some clubs have made time for “Current Events"/news stories, to keep members aware of what has been happening in the world or community regarding human trafficking. You can take time to go through these current events & discuss. Remember that you can add/edit the module powerpoints we provide you with!
Discuss upcoming events & involve your members in the planning process: whether it is just discussing upcoming opportunities or allowing members to actively participate by creating posters, emailing, organizing, and brainstorming, another key to an engaging club, is to give members responsibility too!
Invite guest speakers: The Y4H team can help you find opportunities for guest speakers & possibly provide connections. Feel free to use your own connections & reach out to people who can provide great insight onto your club & this issue. You can always ask your club coach for confirmation & approval.
Examples of possible guest speakers: Law enforcement, healthcare, psychiatrists, or therapists who have experience/encounters with human trafficking, & those who work with other anti-human trafficking organizations (International Justice Ministries, A21, Lily Pad, Fields of Hope, etc).
Remember to explore you & your clubs own connections!
Other activity ideas:
Create posters with human trafficking facts or motivating/inspirational messages to post around school or community
Create human trafficking info cards to pass out or have ready for events/fundraisers
Collect donations for Homes of Hope (see "Events" tab for more information)
Write letters to legislation regarding bills that impact human trafficking (your Y4H coach can help you more with this)

We also encourage you to have an END OF YEAR CELEBRATION every year! Everyone can bring something to share, someone can sponsor, or everyone can "chip in" for food or whatever it might be. Although this is a serious topic, we want Y4H to be enjoyed in community!
Some ideas for an end of year meeting/celebration:
Food
Elect/announce officers for the next year (if applicable)
Gain feedback on what was most impactful or engaging about the club over the year
Discuss potential summer opportunities & methods to stay in contact (in the past there have been service opportunities or events with Y4H for students to participate in)
*We will also have a end of year survey google form for the chapter exec team to fill out, so keep an eye out for this.*
