Your first chapter meeting is vital for representing Y4H and our mission! It is a way to communicate what Y4H is & let people know what to expect & what they are committing to. Keep it fun, engaging, simple, and to the point AND be sure to spread the word about the location, date, and other details by word of mouth, posters & social media!
You will likely want to create a separate powerpoint or presentation for the interest meeting. You can always use it again the next year or pass it along!
Introduce the leadership team
Give an overview of Y4H and our mission: you can show the website, mention Fields of Hope, share some videos or photos from past clubs, etc.
Give an overview of the club: the meeting structure/how often you will meet, the Y4H calendar; possible events/fundraisers to look forward to & of course a brief overview of the modules & curriculum (which can be found on our resources page).
Expectations & Commitment: Be sure to talk about time commitments or other expectations (some clubs may have criteria for possible chords for graduating seniors).
Icebreakers, games & activities: At some point during the meeting, an icebreaker or game of some sort is good for keeping people engaged!
An example could be to create a 10 question Kahoot on the basic facts of human trafficking (this can also capture the attention of those who don’t know much about the issue), and the winner could win a prize (candy, gift card, or even a Y4H t-shirt).
Food: If a budget allows, providing food and/or drinks (& advertising this) is a great way to pull people in & get them engaged.
"Sign Ups": Encourage & allow those who are interested to "sign up" (join the Remind, Groupme, etc. & fill out an interest/member form).
Communication: Be sure to mention the next meeting date & advertise your chapter's social media & method of communication for people to stay in touch.
Questions: make sure you leave time for people to ask any questions!
Relax, have fun & be creative! It will be an awesome year.
This powerpoint can be used as a template for your interest meeting! Or just as a guide for what to include when starting your club for the first time or the new school year.
This presentation also serves as a resource for when Y4A has the opportunity to present & tell people about our organization.

When using the powerpoint:
Change a few slides/details depending on where your club is located. You might want to briefly do some research on top statistics and facts for your state & city. Your Y4H coach can help with this.
You can create a “Contact us” slide to show the Y4H team, (it can just be your names for introduction), as well as a slide for your social media and method of communication (Remind or GroupMe code for example).
Going based off of the suggestions above, add slides for whatever else you plan on talking about/doing during the meeting: meeting information (how often, next meeting, meeting location, and any other commitments), plans for the year, etc.
If your club is not new: feel free to add more photos that are specific to your club at your school and you can change the “Y4H over the years” to “Y4H @ ____” for example. You can have the exec team put their own experiences and things they’ve gained from Y4H; their own photo, etc.
If your club is new: You can add a "Why I Joined/Started a Club" slide
Also remember that you can change & add stuff to this powerpoint. If you want to add other pictures, or change some colors, go for it!
