When you believe that you are experiencing or have a disability there are some things you should consider. You should develop a back-up plan, inform your friends and family, and even doctors who might be able to help you. You should stock up on your food, water, medical supplies or medicine. Make an emergency contact information list and keep it handy in case of emergency. You should learn about alternate transportation and routes just in case. You should also keep a charged car battery at home. You should do this because it can power electric wheelchairs, if you have one, and other electricity outages. Finally you should understand the responsibilities and limitations of a first responder. Always know members of your local fire department or law enforcement office during a disaster.
