Mentees' comments:
"I really enjoyed my research experience this semester. It was a great experience and I feel very grateful that I was able to be a part of the team. I was extremely impressed with my research mentor and their knowledge about the study and the overall research process. I feel as if I learned a lot this semester and much of that is due to my research mentor."
"The lab experience gets better with time! I have gained a better sense of research as a whole the longer I am part of this lab which is so useful for graduate school!"
"I loved everyone I worked with although the research didn’t end up being my particular area of interest."
"Skylar was an incredible mentor and I’m so happy that I chose to apply to this lab!"
"Great! Skylar- you're so thoughtful and I feel lucky to work with you! I get to learn and create so many new experiences with you/the lab."
"Overall, I absolutely loved this experience. I’ve learned so much from Skylar and offers incredible support and feedback. Her genuine interest in the research is infectious and makes me want to pursue academia."
"I had a lot of fun being a part of the study, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity. Skylar was a fantastic mentor, she made everything clear and easy to do."
"The weekly meetings are very beneficial to help us find topics we are interested in and apply them to what we are researching in the lab."
"I learned a lot about the research process and what is important for me to focus on for my goal moving forward."
"I learned how to create a literature matrix, which will be beneficial with future research I do. I also learned more about the behind-the-scenes of research designs, writing, and analysis."
"Skylar is doing an excellent job running this study. There is nothing I feel that could be improved. Skylar is extremely organized and an excellent communicator. There has not been a time where I’ve been confused regarding any aspects of the study."
"I think the weekly meetings are helping everyone learn why we are doing certain aspects in our study, and how to more effectively run participants. This has also helped me learn how to create studies of my own in the future."
"I learned first hand about the research process and how studies are performed. I find this particularly helpful because I’m currently enrolled in PSY250 (Research Methods I), which has an emphasis on research and design. I find the combination of class work and hands-on experience to be particularly helpful as a psychology student."
"I have learned more about research design, how to eliminate alternative explanations, the process of getting a study approved, and how to more effectively do a literature review."

Excerpt from Applied Social & Health Psychology Program Coordinator's annual review for my first year of graduate school:
"He (Dr. Graham) also informed us of your extensive mentoring of undergraduate research assistants through their work in your lab and your weekly meetings with the team of URAs. This is a very beneficial practice for the students to develop as researchers and for your development as a mentor, and it is very impressive that you have begun doing all of this in your first year of graduate school."

Supervisor's comments:
Dr. Dan Graham's comments on my guest lecture in PSY315 Social Psychology:
"I was able to watch Tuesday's class video this morning. Excellent job again!
I appreciate you including the additional information about exam corrections and answering student questions at the beginning of class. I had forgotten to mention again about the short answer questions, and I really appreciate you including that in your lecture!
I really liked how you asked the class to talk to neighbors for the direct effects of attraction question when it was taking a while to hear from anyone. I think that is a great approach to handling these questions where people are not engaging right away.
I also appreciate you adding cartoons and info from last week's grad social class to the slides to make them more fun!
And I loved that you added the summary slide at the end, where you asked the class to generate the four factors you had discussed in class today!
Really great job of incorporating strong science of learning-based practices into class again today Skylar!"
