Through my past school years, I had taken many courses. Some were very popular, while some were a bit boring. I was trying to figure out what were the reasons behind until I became a teacher to give courses and advise students (or projects). When looking back to the courses I took and also those I gave, I realized that the teaching should not simply be taken as a process like pouring water into a pool. Instead, an effective teaching scheme should actively facilitate the learning process of students and stimulate them to initiative thinking and, more important, critical questioning. This philosophy becomes my own teaching paradigm and I also seek continuous renewal and improvement of it.
Another important point for high-quality active teaching and learning lies in the overall attitude and personality. I know that growth is developmental, and it is not a sudden change but a process requires time and patience. Thus, it is important for me to create an interesting and friendly atmosphere for teaching and learning. In this regard, I respect each student with my full patience and sense of responsibility. I enjoy teaching and learning and also strive to spark the flame of excitement and enthusiasm in the mind of students as well. That is, I should focus on strengths and feedback to nourish the academical, social, and also emotional personalities of the students.
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. Just like an old Chinese saying, "授之于鱼,不如授之以渔"
