Akira Toriyama just recently passed away. He was one of the most famous Mangaka in Japan, responsible for the 1980's Dragon Ball series. Dragon Ball is the pivotal Shonen Manga responsible for most modern Shonen Manga we see today (One Piece, My Hero Academia, Bleach).
Being a Mangaka is extremely difficult work and often does not pay well. However, the Dragon Ball Franchise is worth $23 Billion Dollars and continues to be one of the most well known manga to date.
