Dr. Jasbir Singh Lohan is a Rehabilitation Psychologist registered under Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). He has done his M.Phil. and Ph.D. degree in Psychology from Panjab University (Asia’s Ranked 1 University) Chandigarh, India. He had qualified the National Eligibility Test for the Assistant Professorship at college and University Level conducted by University Grant Commission, New Delhi. During his research, he had worked with various International & National Research organizations, NGOs, Educational Institutions etc. His work history at a glance is as follows:

Worked as a Research Associate in Drug De-Addiction and Treatment Center /Tobacco Cessation Clinic, Dept. of Psychiatry, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh under World Health Organization
Worked as a Social Scientist in an Indo-US research project Substance Abuse in Punjab under NIH, USA
Worked as Researcher in UNICEF & Ford Foundation USA sponsored Research Project on Child Labor in India.
His area of interest during research and other professional activities is Drugs Abuse including Alcohol and Tobacco Abuse. He had been awarded with Bursary International Young Scientist Award for his excellent research work on addiction by the National Rehabilitation Center, Abu-Dhabi (UAE) in collaboration with National Addiction Centre London, UK in 2007. During his work on addiction approximately 1722 persons (report submitted to WHO office, New Delhi) which include 310 students from schools, colleges and university, 450 daily wage laborers, 550 factory workers including administrators, 350 children, women and unemployed youth from slums, 12 juvenile delinquent under trials, and 50 school drop out children below the age of 15, had been treated & sensitized about substance abuse.
He had started campaign against Tobacco Abuse among youth as a team leader with other researchers from PGIMER and acted as volunteer involving Law Enforcement Agencies like Police, Health Department, Chandigarh Administration and other Social Organizations. After spending 3.5 years in sensitization and awareness programs, they officially declared Chandigarh First “SMOKE-FREE CITY” in India” on 15th July 2007. On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, 2007, as Research Associate he had Sensitized approximately 3500 persons in 5 days mass awareness programs in the city regarding tobacco abuse and its ill effects on health as reported in the Newspaper Hindustan Times June 5, 2007. He had also been appointed mentor to deliver lectures for Adolescents on Life Skill Development organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Chandigarh on World Mental Health Day.
He is a life member of World Association of Cultural Psychiatry, Indian Association for Social Psychiatry and Indian Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health. He has been Elected as President, Chandigarh State Chapter, Confederation of NGOs of Rural India (CNRI www.cnri.in ) from July, 2008 to Sept, 2010.
Apart from his professionalism, he was an outstanding sportsmen and Student Leader too. He was Awarded Best Athlete in Annual Athletic Meet at college level twice.
