Description: Has your child ever asked about the wind machines as you have driven on the interstate?  Now is your chance to learn how they work and even walk inside a turbine! Join us as we visit the Wild Horse Wind and Solar Facility.

Please plan to arrive to the facility no later than 10:45am.

All participants must sign a liability form. Minors must have the liability form signed by a parent or guardian to participate in the tour. Click here for the form to fill out ahead of time and bring with you.

At the conclusion of our visit, all are invited to have lunch outside on the patio and tour the exhibits inside the visitor center.  Please pack a sack lunch and join us for this fun and educational field trip!

Clothing: Closed-toed sturdy shoes are required for the tour.  Keep an eye on the weather forecast and please dress accordingly. Coats, gloves, and hats may be needed in the Spring.

Safety: Hard hats and safety glasses are required, and will be provided for visitors. Young children will not be able to participate in the tour if the safety gear does not fit properly, or if they are unwilling to wear it for the duration of the tour. A safety review will be provided prior to the tour. Various hazards exist at an operating wind facility, such as inclement weather, primitive road and trail conditions.   The tour covers a 1/2 mile on gravel trails. Tour participants with mobility issues can arrange vehicle access to the base of the turbine.

Note: Tours can be canceled or modified at any time due to inclement weather, high winds or any unsafe conditions.

Travel time: Please allow 75-90 minutes of travel time to the Wind facility.
