What I Learned: I learned that students who struggle with initiating their writing benefit from sentence starters with structure that allows them to focus on expressing their thoughts.
Artifact Description: This paper was written for SPED 216: Introduction to Exceptional Children at Trinity Christian College. The topic was on the characteristics and causes of a communication disorder, specifically language disorders.
ITPS Connection: This paper explores the ways in which disabilities impact the cognitive, physical, social/emotional and communication development of students with disabilities, which connects to standard 3C.
What I learned: I have deepened my understanding of the definitions and causes of language disorders as outlined by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA).
