Meaning
Progressive education movement refers to the educational innovation theory and practice which appeared in the United States from the 1880s to the 1950s with Dewey's educational philosophy as the main theoretical basis, the Progressive Education Association as the organization center, and the reform of American school education as the purpose. It sharply criticizes traditional education, emphasizes the connection between education and social life, advocates respect for children's psychological development laws, pays attention to children's overall development, advocates innovation in curriculum and teaching with children's interests and experience as the focus, and attaches importance to learning from doing.
