Before the starting your shift, you must ensure the areas you have used are clean and tidy (e.g. Crew Room etc)
Cleaning materials in the cleaning zone can be used
Take extra care when taking brushes and mop poles on and off the wall clips to prevent damage of the splashback
Standard Healthcare (NHS) colour coded equipment is in operation on this site. Re-useable equipment of the correct colour must be used

The following areas' classification is outlined here for you
(where required) All vehicles must start their shift in a clean conditions (both inside and outside)
A 'Duty Clean' will also be required each shift.
A Duty Clean will require all crews to:
Clean all surfaces, walls and celinings
Remove kit from each cupboard or storage area, clean the area and clean equipment as it is put back
Clean all moving and handling devlcies
Clean repsonse bags and their contents
Clean surfaces and vehicle conrols in the cab.
Hand rails and touch points
All cleaning can be completed with surface wipes on each vehicle
Where deployed at a large event, the Duty Manager will designate/allocate times for your Duty Clean
All staff are responsible for the cleanliness of their working environment.
Routines will keep these areas clean and tidy:
If you use something, wash it afterwards and store is appropritely
Ensure all items of equipment (such as buckets) are returned cleaned and rinsed
Ensure any spillages are cleared up straight away
Empyting bins when they are full
It is important that you understand how different waste should be handled safely to protect you, your colleagues and the people that you provide support for.
‘Clinical waste’ is produced from healthcare and similar activities. It is placed in either yellow or orange plastic sacks.
Waste containers should be handled carefully to avoid contamination. Where appropriate you should use PPE to protect you from contamination and infection.

Clinical waste must be stored in the Yellow large bin in the Cleaning area, prior to disposal.
All waste in this bin must be in a tiger stripe bag
Used and Soiled Linen must be stored in the large red bin in the cleaning area prior to being sent to laundry.
Heavily soiled linen (such as large amounts of blood, urine, faeces etc) , should be treated as clinical waste
All waste in this bin must be red bags
Sealed sharps contained must be stored in the yellow tamper proof lid contained in the Cleaning Area
All sharps containers deposited here msut be sealed and the date recorded on the box
All domestic waste must be put in black sacks.
Sealed black sacks and be deposited in the General Waste bin the Garage area (Green Bin)
Personal protective equipment (PPE)
We provide you with the equipment you need to protect you from injury and, as far as possible, from the risk of infection while you are at work.
That includes:
skin protecting paper towels and soaps and hand cleansing gels or wipes
the correct type of gloves to reduce the risk of cross-contamination of you and the individual you are supporting
masks and respiratory-masks to protect you from breathing in harmful microorganisms
goggles, eye protection or face shields – if there is a risk of being splashed with body fluids
Gloves should be used when:
cleaning
checking oil / water in vehicles
disposing of waste
dealing with spillages
Apron should be used when:
cleaning
disposing of waste
dealing with spillages
Eye Projection should be used when:
cleaning, where splashing is likely
disposing of waste, where splashing is likely

Spill kits are avilalbe in the Store to safelty clean up and dispose of spilllage of chemicals and bodily fluids
At the end of each shift, your vehicle must be cleaned and stocked ready for its next activity

Clean all surfaces, walls and ceilings
Clean handles, doors and touch points
Clean surfaces and vehicle conrols in the cab.
Clean the floor in the patient compartment

Used to clean all surfaces, equipment, floors and vehicle controls

Used to remove heavy dirt and debris prior to cleaning with surface wipes
DO NOT USE MOP AND BUCKET FOR CLEANING WITHOUT USING WIPES AFTERWARDS
A hose can be used to clean the outside of vehicles
You must not use the pressure washer on vehicle exteriors
An outside tap is located next to the shutter
