Xavier Robotics is an organization of middle school kids that come together for the strategic game that is VEX Robotics we are a competitive group of students determined to use their potential and strive to be their best. We are a positive influence on young and experienced parties, alike. The Xavier VEX Club has been around for 12 years, and has been very successful as we have sent various teams to the state, national, and world-level competitions. We are very competitive, yet we strive to have fun while we are working. Together we are a strong asset to the VEX Robotics community and provide many learning opportunities for preteens and teenagers. We are always looking for willing minds that are always adapting to new challenges.
We are a community of VEX enthusiasts that bond and develop friendships with each other. Our teams here at Xavier strive to develop positive relationships with themselves and others. We are a driving force in the VEX community and we help bring new teams in. We are a capable and substantial addition to the VEX Community. The teams here are striving to win and be a friend to everyone. We are trying to live the Xavier Way through VEX!
We have both VEX VRC and VEX IQ at Xavier Middle School. VEX VRC is for our 7th and 8th graders. In this program, students will be using real nuts and bolts, and they will be cutting their own metal parts. During matches, two alliances will go head to head to win the match. Each alliance consists of two teams; for a total of four different teams on the field at a time. VEX VRC promotes integrity and courage in our older students.
Our other program that we offer for students 5th-8th grade is called VEX IQ. Students in this program will be using plastic components to build their robot. During these matches, two teams work together to obtain the highest score possible. Although VEX IQ is open to all of our student body, it mostly consists of the lower grade levels. Unlike VEX VRC, VEX IQ matches make teams work together. This program truly promotes teamwork and togetherness in our younger students.
As Xavier Middle School, we are hosting VEX Robotics VRC and IQ Tournaments this year. Everybody is welcome to attend these tournaments. Whether you're on a team or you have no VEX experience at all, we would love if you would consider coming to watch our tournaments, or even volunteering. To find out when our next tournament is, please check the tournament schedule page, which you can access below. Spots that are open may include concessions donations, or VEX positions like referees, scorekeeper, or inspector.
To join our middle school VEX program at the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year, you will get a sheet telling about our middle school VEX program, and how to join from your homeroom teacher, or the front office. You will go online to our sign-up. There, you will fill out a form and pay the $100 fee. You can turn in the money to your homeroom teacher. Students will be assigned to a team depending on their birth date and grade level. We offer two VEX Competition programs at Xavier Middle; VEX VRC, and VEX IQ. If you are in 7th or 8th grade, you may join either. If you are in 5th or 6th grade, you will be joining VEX IQ. It is possible to request to be on an existing team. If you want to be put on a team with certain people, you can request to be on a team with those people. If you wish to join a certain team, or you want to join in the middle of the year, talk to Mrs. Kroner or Mr. McKinnon.
Thank you Mrs. Kroner, Mr. McKinnon, and all the coaches and parents for supporting the Xavier VEX Robotics teams and using your time and effort to get us where we are today! You have helped us get further in the program than we ever expected, thank you!
